Good morning

Rise and Shine!

This simple, stigma‑free intervention is changing the rhythm of school mornings across Tasmania, and we are proud to be driving it.

In partnership with the Tasmanian Government Department of Education Children and Young People, we are expanding the program to a universal School Breakfast Program by 2028, ensuring even more children start each day nourished and ready to learn.
2 hours
learning lost by a hungry child each day
A hungry child can easily lose up to 2 hours of learning a day, that is the equivalent of a full school term each year.

From Term 1 2026, the Variety School Breakfast Club is being served up to 76 public schools from Flinders Island to Dover.
18,872
Students supported
Beginning Term 1 2026, we are giving 18,872 students the chance to start each day nourished, confident, and ready to learn.
52%
Increase in attendance
Students arrive with a greater sense of purpose and readiness to engage, which has positively influenced the tone  of the morning.
21%
Decrease in negative behaviour
Reported since the Variety School Breakfast Club was implemented.
63%
Students now eating breakfast regularly
Wellbeing data reported found that from Term 1, 63% of students were eating breakfast regularly.

Testimonial

“The Breakfast Club has been a lifesaver for our family. Knowing my child starts the day with a healthy meal and a friendly environment gives me peace of mind. It sets them up for learning and helps with their energy and focus throughout the morning."
